To investigate effects and plasticity in the deaf brain, the main technique is the use of cochlear implants. Cochlear implants are an important clinical device to restore hearing. However, when they are implanted after long deafness changes and adaptations of the brain to deafness might interfere with the restoration of hearing. We use 6-channel CI in cats and aim to use 2-channel mouse implants in the future. These are provided by Med-El.
